Reactive Arthritis - Also Known As Immune System Arthritis

arthritisReactive arthritis is a type of arthritis where the immune system, which is “reacted” in the presence of bacterial infections in the body. It is a form of chronic disease and it manifests itself in three conditions. First, the presence of swollen joints, and swelling of the eyes, called conjunctivitis, and, finally, the inflammation of the gastro-intestinal, urinary and genital systems.

Reactive arthritis occurs when the immune system is exposed to certain bacteria. Some people have immune systems that behave erratically after contact with a form of bacteria. The erratic behavior of the immune system causes inflammation of the eyes and joints.
